Frequently Asked Questions
Take a peek below to see answers to our most commonly asked questions. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Contact us, and we’ll get back to you in the next 48 hours.
- Why do you use the term “womxn”?
-
Our goal is to be an inclusive business that serves anyone who identifies with the art that we create - the use of this alternate spelling is a way to show this.
- Do you shoot couples?
-
Got a honey?! Then bring it on! Our boudoir packages can be used either solo or as a couples session. A “couples mini-session” can also be included in your package as an add-on for those interested in both options - just ask.
- Will you photoshop me?
-
So here’s the thing, even the baddest of the baddies has something they’re self-conscious about. It’s an unfortunate, but normal by-product of decades of seeing unrealistic images of perfection in the media… but I digress. That being said, we’re all at different stages of self-acceptance, and because of this, I address this topic in depth during your client onboarding questionnaire. All of my images receive general editing (color/light correction, cropping, etc.), but the images you select for purchase will receive mastered editing in photoshop (nip/tucks, skin smoothing, cellulite and stretch mark removal, etc.) based upon your answers to this questionnaire.
- I’m not a model… I don’t know how to pose… HELP!
-
Relax, we got you! We are professionals and will guide you through each pose during the session by showing you exactly what to do.
- Can I bring someone to the session?
-
My experience has shown that more people invite more nerves, so unless this is a couple’s session, it’s just me and you ( and perhaps a bottle of champagne) dear :)
- What does the session day look like?
-
Take a look at the “Experience Page” for an in depth preview of a session with us!
- What if I need to cancel?
-
We’d strongly encourage you consider rescheduling rather than canceling, as our retainer fee is non-refundable (as it is used to reserve the time, talent, and studio space of the photographer). However, while the retainer fee is non-refundable, it is transferable to another service or client at the discretion of J. Mynatt Boudoir. Please refer to your contract and contact us for more details.
- What if I need to reschedule?
-
We understand that stuff happens, so we offer one complimentary reschedule per session (pending availability and according to the terms of your contract). Additional reschedules are subject to a fee.
- I’ve paid my retainer, signed my agreement, and booked you…. what’s next?
-
We party!!! Just kidding… kind of :)
I’ll send you a questionnaire, We’ll exchange ideas, and develop your dream shoot. In the two weeks leading up to your session, I’ll be in touch for any last minute questions. Come shoot day, you’ll live your best life (see “experience page” for more). About 2 weeks after your session, we’ll have your big reveal and order your art. Then finally, art delivery day is upon us, and you revel in how amazing you are.
- Can I send you images I like?
-
Sure! I’m extremely visual and love a good inspiration image. That being said though, I’ll take the images for just that… “inspiration”. I don’t fancy copying other artists work, as it puts a real damper on my own flow and what we could potentially create with a little mutual trust.
- How do I book you?
-
Easy-peasy! Shoot me a message through my “contact page” and someone will be in touch for your initial consolation and booking.
- Do you have gift certificates?
-
Yes! Gift certificates are available in denominations equivalent to the cost of a session, i.e., boudoir session gift certificates begin at $450
- Are my images private?
-
Absolutely. We take your privacy very seriously, and will only share if we receive a signed model release from you.
- Where do the sessions take place?
-
Photo sessions take place in my studio, which is located in the heart of Castleberry Hill, Atlanta. It’s a beautiful loft, with high ceilings, exposed brick, and lots of character. However, If you’re looking for something a bit different, our studio also has a list of curated hotels in the Atlanta area that we love to shoot in, and this option is available for an additional fee.
- I’m not naturally photogenic…What if I feel awkward in front of you?
-
I’m going to be honest, if you’re not a professional model, you most definitely will feel awkward in front of my camera for the first 10 minutes of your session. Absolutely everyone does. But lucky for you, I’m really awesome at what I do, and just so long as you’re open to trusting me and the flow, you’re going to kill it.
- You were right, I felt and looked amazing… Now what do I do with my images?
-
By far the most popular way to display the art we create is with an heirloom album. It’s a real stunner, and customized to fit your session and taste. But, with every session, I make a sincere effort to create portraits you’d be comfortable displaying on the wall as well. Master bedrooms, closets, and distinguished man-caves are all popular locations for wall art displays.
- What do I wear?
-
We have a saying in our studio - “Boudoir is a mood”. What that means is that what we create transcends the bedroom. Sure you can wear lingerie or even nothing, but you can also wear an evening gown if that’s your M.O. While you’ll get a list of our favorite outfit ideas for Boudoir sessions when you book, along with links to some of our favorite retailers, each session is ultimately tailored specifically to the session you want to create. Your session also comes with a complimentary wardrobe consultation.
- Do I need to lose weight first?
-
Nope. Nope. Nopity nope. Come as you are, and let’s celebrate the body you have. It is, after all, literally giving you life.
